Edo lawmakers impeach suspended Deputy Speaker

Edo State House of Assembly today impeached its suspended Deputy Speaker,   Festus Ebea.
He was replaced with  Victor Sabo Tiger Edoror of Esan Central Constituency.
Ebea, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and three other lawmakers who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were suspended by the 15-member APC lawmakers weeks ago for “misconduct.”

The impeachment motion that was moved by   Folly Ogedengbe of Owan East Constituency and seconded by   Bamidele Olorotunba of Akoko Edo II Constituency accused Ebea of forcefully breaking into the   chambers of the Assembly to take over the office of the Speaker, Hon. Uyi Igbe, an offence they described as “gross misconduct.”

The 15 lawmakers sat at the old House of Assembly Complex situated inside the Government House, owing to what it described as the renovation work currently going on at the main Assembly Complex at Ring Road in Benin City.
